POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT (AICTE APPROVED)
 
The Post Graduate program in management is a wholesome package of GBS which aims at imparting professional education and training in modern management techniques for handling business operations globally in a dynamic and competitive environment. Areas of specialization offered, are Human Resource, Marketing, Finance, Information Technology and International Business.
 

 PURPOSE

Prepare the students for professional careers in the business operations

Enable the would be managers to appreciate the inter - relationships between the diverse and complex tasks of business processes.

Help the incumbents to develop analytical skills to identify business opportunities and conditions for access to potential markets.

Promote among the future business executives a scientific approach and capability to undertake senior management responsibilities in international business.

SPECIAL FEATURES

ELIGIBILTY : Graduate Degree in any stream from recognized university. Students in Final Year  or Awaiting Result  can also apply, the candidature however is subject to their clearing the Qualifying Examination

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

The aspirant should have appeared in any of the combined qualifying exam like CAT/MAT/XAT. The candidate will also have to undergo a written examination, followed by group discussion and personal interview at the Institute.

COURSE DURATION

The post Graduate Diploma in Management spread in four semesters for two years Ist starting from August 2009 , IInd starting from December 2009 , IIIrd starting from July 2010 , IVth starting from January 2011 ending the session in June 2011.

COURSE COMMENCEMENT

The course will commence on 16th August 2009 for the session 2009-2011

FEE STRUCTURE

The fee structure for the Programme is Rs.2.50 lacs/annum, along with a security deposit of Rs. 10,000/- which is refundable at the end of the course . Free Laptop with course curriculum.

INFRASTRUCTURE LIBRARY

Library comprises of Digital Library with 350 titles of Management , Accounts and Finance , Computers , Foreign Language & Quantitative Techniques.

The Library is using integrated library automation software ‘LibYSys’ which is capable of working in an integrated multi-user and network environment .

Open round the clock the library offers students a rich resource of books ( Print ) and E-Books, Journals ( Print ) and E-Journals, company annual reports, project reports, bound volume of journals, audio and video cassets of eminent personalities, and Online Data Bases.

 IT INFRASTRUCTURE

GBS is a 100% Wi-Fi enabled network campus equipped with 30 nodes connected with a back bone of 5 KBPS cyber connectivity with multilayer , hi-end campus wide networking covering up all academic centers , lecture halls , class rooms , hostels with server room designed as per International Standards.     

HOSTEL
 
Hostel facility is available for both boys and girls comprising of spacious and well ventilated rooms with attached lavatory facility, mess and comfortable surrounding.

Hostel fee including the mess and accommodation charges is Rs. 60,000/- per year.

BUS FACILITY

Bus facility will be provided in NCR area on payment basis.

FOCUS ON PRACTICAL KNOW HOW

PGDM curriculum at Global Business School focuses on practical knowledge along with the basic insight in theory. This makes study at GBS a perfect blend of actual hands on knowledge and theoretical concepts.

FOREIGN LANGUAGE

Recognizing the importance of communication in business cross culturally, special emphasis is given to developing proficiency and commercial operation in German /Spanish.
 
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS PROGRAM

This is designed to investigate, analyze and develop soft skills in management students and essentially aims at developing the skills, which will inculcate in them effectiveness and influence as an individual as well as professional

DURATION AND CLASS SCHEDULE

Each subject will have 3 hours of teaching per week, i.e. two classes per week, each of 90 minutes duration. The teaching will take place 6 days per week from 9: 30 am to 5: 30 pm

FACULTY

The faculty members at GBS play a significant role in ensuring quality education through effective and interactive teaching, continuous and multi-criteria assessment and feedback to students.  At the beginning of the course, the faculty announces to the class necessary information in respect of policies that govern the operation of the course through detailed course information.

 

 

 TEACHING PEDAGOGY

Teaching pedagogy entails strictly power point sessions to keep pace with the contemporary processes and offers each candidate an opportunity to enhance their knowledge and focus on their overall development. The teaching methodology includes lectures, case discussions, role plays, simulation exercises and fieldwork.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

The program, is a wholesome package of the AICTE approved syllabus, to impart current know how. The semester wise syllabus comprises of the subjects which are products of the Institute – Industry Interface.

Areas of specialization offered, are Human Resource, Marketing, Finance, Information Technology and International Business.

GRADING

GBS will now follow a system of continuous evaluation to analyze systematic and continuous study by the students. At each stage of the course, the students are in a position to assess their performance and take measures to make improvements.

The various components of assessment viz. case discussions/home assignments/ seminars /quizzes/ project reports factory visits/industrial tours term papers, etc. which are evenly spread out in the term give ample opportunity to students to enhance their overall performance.

Each student shall undergo summer training for 6 -8 weeks at the end of the second semester and shall submit a training report and appear for subsequent viva voce and present the same in the form of class seminar at the projects reports/ term papers, etc. which are evenly spread out in the term give ample opportunity to students

to enhance their overall performance. International Exposure shall be provided to deserving students .

Every student shall be given an appropriate research topic in their area of specialization at the beginning of the third semester and shall submit the same and face the viva voce at the end of the fourth semester. This also carries 50 credits.

Each subject of PGDM will also carry 8 credits each, total of 40 credits in each semester. The distribution of credits will depend upon the percentage of attendance of the students. Each student will get an add - on of the credits earned in their final percentage.
